Collection guide
Shadow art prints capture the soft shadow of a plant in light, with the nearest leaves crisp and the rest melting out of focus. Each one uses just two colours, from lilac on burgundy to cream on rust.
Our Shadow Botanicals series is all about light and shadow. Each print shows a plant the way its shadow might fall across a sunlit wall: cosmos, poppies, ginkgo, eucalyptus, birch and more, the closest stems sharp and the rest dissolving into a soft glow. It is shadow art made to hang on the wall, and it looks a little different in morning and evening light.
Every design uses only two colours, one for the background and one for the plant. Dark grounds such as burgundy, chocolate, forest green and black give a moody, evening feel, while blush, sage, beige and butter yellow keep things light and calm. A set of designs comes in white on deep blue, in a cyanotype style.
The prints come in portrait, square and landscape shapes, on premium matte paper with no glare. Hang one large shadow print above a sofa or bed, or pair two plants in the same colourway, such as an anemone and an iris in lilac on burgundy, for a quiet gallery wall.
Questions about Shadow Art Prints
Good to know
Questions about Shadow Art Prints
What is shadow art?
Shadow art is artwork built around the play of light and shadow. Our shadow art prints show the soft shadow of a plant in two colours, with the nearest leaves sharp and the rest gently out of focus, like a shadow on a sunlit wall.
Which rooms suit shadow prints?
Rooms where you want atmosphere rather than busy detail. The dark colourways suit living rooms and bedrooms with warm lamplight, and the lighter blush, sage and beige prints suit hallways, studies and bright bedrooms. They also sit well in japandi and wabi sabi rooms.
What sizes are available?
Most prints come in sizes from A4 (21 x 29.7cm) up to A0 (84.1 x 118.9cm), plus square sizes. A4 and A3 are popular gift sizes and start from £16.
Can I send it straight to them as a gift?
Yes. Tick "Mark as gift" in the basket and we leave the invoice out, so you can send the print straight to them.
Do you sell gift cards?
Yes. Our wall art gift card lets them choose their own print and size, and it is delivered by email, so it is perfect for last-minute gifts.
How long does delivery take?
Every print is made to order and usually dispatched within 1 to 2 days. UK orders typically arrive in 3 to 6 days, so for Christmas we recommend ordering by early December.
